home back Ephesians 6
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Children are responsible to obey their parents. This duty may be properly
extended to any persons acting legitimately on behalf of parents and/or in their interest.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
The command to honor parents includes caring for parents financially when
they increase in age. It is a general reference to respect, be grateful to, and
promote the welfare of parents, and all those who provide parental influence and provision.
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. The attitude children have toward their parents affects them in the very
deepest parts of their being. Disdain for parents corrupts the very
foundation of personal existence and is likely to result in foolishness, illness, and even premature death
